Well visits can help your child maintain exceptional health and wellness throughout their growth and development and avoid health issues. At Newton Pediatrics, the expert pediatricians provide all-encompassing care for children, teens, and young adults during well visits.

What is a well visit?

A well visit is a health checkup that focuses on the special needs of children and teens. Newton Pediatrics provides comprehensive care for your child’s health and well-being, encouraging them to take an active approach in their health care.

Well visits may include various aspects of pediatric care, including:

Preventive health

Preventive health screenings and routine physical exams help your child’s pediatrician diagnose medical conditions early when they’re the easiest to treat.

Newtonn Pediatrics also provides vaccinations to protect your child from serious illnesses and recommends healthy lifestyle changes to improve their general health.

School physicals

Your child may require special physicals, like school or sports physicals, prior to the school year or sports season. Children typically need school physicals before entering kindergarten or the first grade.

Sports injury

Even the healthiest children may have accidents sometimes. If your child obtains an injury while playing their favorite sport, your child’s pediatrician can recommend the appropriate treatment and provide care instructions so they can heal properly and return to the activities they enjoy.

Behavioral health

Your child’s physical health is just as important as their mental and behavioral health. Newton Pediatrics has an independently licensed clinical social worker who can discuss your child’s concerns and help them overcome difficult emotions and situations.

Acne management

Acne is a common skin condition in teens and young adults, but your child doesn’t have to struggle with acne on their own. Newton Pediatrics can help reduce their flare-ups and offer treatment recommendations to restore the health of their skin.

Children under 2½ years of age should be seen for well-child visits at the following ages:

  • Newborn

  • 2 weeks

  • 1 month

  • 2 months

  • 4 months

  • 6 months

  • 9 months

  • 12 months

  • 15 months

  • 18 months

  • 24 months (2 years)

  • 30 months (2½ years)

These visits allow providers to monitor growth and development, provide recommended screenings and immunizations, and address any concerns early.

Children age 3 years and older should have annual well-child visits to support ongoing health, development, and preventive care.
